In the meantime, this is old news now, but I've recently added a War Story (not a big one) about a freak incident a week and a half ago when that total Lunar Eclipse happened, called "Lunar Lunacy". I'll note beforehand that no animals were hurt in this incident. Bloody Raccoon's still eating the garbage. :P
Enjoy!
Also, this is an unrelated
subject...
I'm a child of the 80's
and early 90's... my affinity for Soakers and the guns of the Classic series
is one example... But as kids watching TV, we will probably remember 2
shows, Unsolved Mysteries and Transformers. Robert Stack, host of Unsolved
Mysteries and "Ultra Magnus" in the Transformers movie, and well known
for his characteristic voice, died yesterday. He was 84. Rest in Peace.
Enough about Nex...
A sad realization.
Every once in a while, as
a Soaker fan at heart (of course), I check in on, even if only to pay tribute,
the site that started it all many years ago, The Super Soaker Arsenal.
Sadly, due to lack of activity on Yahoo's Geocities servers, the page has
recently been removed... ending the life of what is believed to be the
First Super Soaker website. The Super Soaker Arsenal ran from 1996 to 1998
(with a minor update in 2000), and was put together by Ian Helfrich, the
writer of the Reservoir on SuperSoaker.com in 1999 and 2000. The page and
the man was a pioneer of the community, right from the beginning into what
grew into the community today. Both were an inspriation to the Aqua-Nexus
in it's beginning in 1999 and to many other sites in the Super Soaker world.
If and when you can, fill up your largest
blaster and fire it off in memory of the Super Soaker Arsenal.
For the time being, the
link to SS Arsenal will remain up in the Nexus links section, the link
has been updated to direct to the SSArsenals
Proto-site, which resides on Maine's "College of the Atlantic"'s server.
Ian, if you ever read this...
Thank you... for everything. :)
More news to report...
New discoveries on the Monster X and
Monster XL!
Boy... there's something
you don't hear of every day... Yes, and what's even more surprising is
that these soaker discoveries *aren't* on the shortened 2002 MX/MXL, which
features desgin differences which are rather obvious.
The Monster
X and Monster XL, due to their cost
and availability, expensive and extremely rare, have been very hard to
report design differences on. Other blasters, like CPS
1500 and XP 150, have multiple
versions and have been identified, but they are common blasters (for their
time), and simple to acquire more than one for yourself, or have a friend
with the same gun. But given the rareness of friends with a Monster X/XL,
telling the differences other than obvious cosmetic changes has been impossible.
Not any more.
Last fall, Aqua-Nexus and
iSoaker.com,
winners of the 2002 Webmasters choice award from SuperSoaker.com, were
awarded a large prize pack of free soakers. Mine consisted of 6 Blasters,
2001 Monster XL, 2001 Monster "X", CPS 4100, CPS SplashZooka 65oz, and
a Max-D 6000 and 5000. With the help of iSoaker.com,
Aqua-Nexus has tracked down that there are not only 2 different versions
of the Monster X and Monster XL, but 3! The 2000 and 2001 Monster (X)
and Monster XL!
The difference is hard to
tell, as there are no obvious cosmetic differences. The main difference
is that the Nozzles on the 2001 Variety are smaller than those of the 2000
edition (and 2001 Monster X is labeled with an "X").
The Comparitive nozzle sizes
on both guns (and what gun I used for reference) are as follows:
5x - 4x (Monster '01)
8.5x - 5x (CPS 2100)
11.5x - 10x (CPS 2500)
Aperatures are also smaller
on the specialty nozzles as well.
Of course, will all this information in hand, some people may wonder about what "smaller nozzles" mean. The first assumption is "lower output" and that it's a bad thing. I personally think it could be a good thing. It might mean that the streams are smaller, less output, etc... but because the streams are tighter and more compressed, it means that the shot times and possibly even range could be greater. The increased shot times are something undeniably essential to modern water warfare.
I'll try and get some more details soon, weather and access to equipment permitting.
Oh, and also, I ordered myself a Grey T-Shirt and a Frisbee yesterday from the Nexus store, I'll let everyone know in a Newswire report how they look. I'm betting this will be one cool shirt!
That's all for now... MaX Out...
The Official Aqua-Nexus
Hat
Only $14.99us.
Is this cool or what?
Note: Set up of this store was free from CafePress.com and it's only purpose is to sell Aqua-Nexus merchandise, not to make the Nexus money. All if any proceeds go to the development of the website. :)

Big updates @ iSoaker.com!
iSoaker.com
has unleashed a new update, which completely redoes how the Blaster review
section works. Everything is sorted in a Database-like format which can
be organized by year (1988-2003), and gun class(Air, CPS, Piston). Go
check it out!

Happy Birthday Nexus
Newswire!
4 years ago, May
5th, 1999 saw the first post on this Newswire. Over the last 4 years,
this has gone onto being a major news source, not only for updates on the
Nexus, but also in the Soaker world and various websites online... not
to mention making visitors welcome to the Nexus for years!
Anyway! More later! MaX out...
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Also, it's worth noting that yesterday, I finally acquired a 2001 CPS 1200 in silver, and named it "Falcon". Eventually, I'll do up some comparisons, but so far, I've noticed no differences from the 2000 Yellow 1200 and the Silver counterpart. Further examination is required, but likely pointless...
Also, I recieved another story, but I do not have a Nickname and a Story name for it, which is neccessary for posting it in the stories section. I tried emailing the person back but the email address is invalid. If you submitted it, and are read this now, could you please email me with a nick name and story name? I'll try to get up up ASAP once I do. :)
That's all for now. MaX Out.
Max-D 3000, 5000, 6000, XP
270, 310, 85, XXP 275, CPS Splashzooka, 1-3-5, 2100, 4100 and 2700 all
now have Nexus' own images... not with the Map of the world behind it this
time (my bedroom desk, which has a 1GHz computer on it now), but something
more Soaker related... Grass!! A sunny day on the Lawn is all it
took.
But what brought all this
up? you may be asking yourself that, take a look at the Nexus's Gallery...
for the first time since the year 2000, I laid out my entire arsenal and
took photos. With my 41 blaster arsenal, I laid out the guns on my front
lawn and had to stand all the way back out on the road to take pictures,
although I took closer angle shots. Whichever unreviewed gun you see in
those arsenal pics (except the 85) you'll be seeing reviews for coming
soon. So that means 2700, 4100, 2000, 3000, 5000 and 6000... Prehaps even
this weekend... :)
I also had other pictures to scan, one is from a large battle with friends in May 2001, the only survivng picture. Also, a photo of an XXP 275 taken at my friends parents place in Ontario... which I can't quite get my hands on yet... :P (she's using it as bait to get me to go up there with her...)
Also, added to the Gallery is a Photo-edited image I made last night, starring none other than James Bond! You'd think I liked 007 movies or something...
That's all for now... DEFINITELY more to come, so keep checking the Nex!
