The Benchmark

Weapon Class: XP/Small Pistol
|
Performance Overview.
Look at the output! While
it does only have 3 seconds of shot time, the blast is extremely powerful
and even out-ranges its immediate predecessor, the XP
220. However, the power comes at a cost, as the strong blast quickly
drains the reservoir. 3 seconds of shot time and afterwards there isn't
enough left for another shot. But, for the duties of a small pistol, is
it enough? You be the judge.
Structural Overview.
The Max-D 2000 feels strong
and sturdy, but on occasion, even strong feeling guns break - as my 1st
MxD 2000 did before I made this review. The inner mechanics, where the
tank meets the firing mechanism, was extremely brittle and cracked like
a 10yr old soaker. I had only used it for this benchmark and always stored
it at room temperature - conditions that over 40 of my other soakers have
enjoyed for years. There's a chance I got a bad model, but as far as I'm
conserned, this gun can be fairly fragile. But certainly worth the 9$cdn
each for their power.
Unless you have big hands,
this gun is fairly comfortable to hold, and the trigger makes a pleasant
but noisy "KA-CLICK" sound when pulled, which takes away from the stealth
that older pistols enjoyed.
Basic Overview.
Power-wise, this is probably
the best small pistol EVER. But it's not as sturdy as it feels - however,
it doesn't feel made as cheap in 2003. 2003's colour changes are extremely
well fitting, where even the Ketchup/Teal coloured blaster is a very welcome
change to the 2002's Yellow/Green lemon lime "spot it a mile away" scheme.
The Silver/Navy Blue colours are downright awesome.
In my personal opinion,
they took an already great gun, the XP 220, and gave it astounding output
power which will make many think twice about guns this size... But the
record of the 2000 is tarnished for me after I lost one from a fairly violent-looking
crack inside after a 1 foot drop to the floor.
Personal Rating: 3.0
Suggested Use: Sidearm or Pistol Attacks.
