Performance Overview
Performance wise, the gun does show improvements over it's predecessor, the 2001 Monster. Capacity, Pumping, and Range are all very similar to the Baby Monster that it was designed after. However, like it's little brother, the CPS 2100, the 4100 shows a decent improvement in Shot Power. While the range (strangely) stays almost the same, the 4100 puts out nearly 1oz per second more on every nozzle than the Monster '01 does. 8.5x performs amazingly more like the 10x nozzles of the past! But, even with the better output, the shot times are therefore reduced (which weren't short to begin with), and the range is the same. One of the good things about the CPS 4100 being derived from the Monster '01, is the nozzles. They give you the perfect balance of conserving water with 2.5x as well as dumping on your opponents with an extremely powerful 8.5x blast.

Structural Overview
Structure-wise, the CPS 4100 leaves things to be desired. While it's the same body frame as the Monster '01, the plastic and components are made of typical CPS quality materials, and breakage reports have popped up all over the web, especially with the trigger. In my opinion, the overall quality is reduced, although not absolutely terrible. The handle, being the same one as on the Monster '01, doesn't have a great feel to it, it never has. Thankfully, the gun at least has a strap. It would have been much better had they improved the design rather than skim it down for CPS use.

Basic Overview
While this is an excellent soaker, I'm not fully impressed... For the most part, we've seen all this before. What has me the most disappointed is that the SuperCharger capability has been removed, I really liked that part of the body design. What we are left with is a Medium-Small class CPS soaker filling the shoes of the largest spot on the CPS food chain. The end result is a gun far smaller that guns in it's class from before, and in general boasts less capacity when compared to older CPS class blasters.
Don't get me wrong, the CPS 4100 is a great cannon, but coming from the Super Soaker heritage it has, the CPS 4100 could have stood to be a bit bigger in my opinion. I miss backpacks and large cannons like the CPS 3200 and 2500, where not only power was high but capacity as well.
But... for the time being, the CPS 4100 is a powerful and incredibly diverse gun that allows for excellent conservation of water supplies as well as severe dumping of water down someones shorts. If that's what you really need, then the CPS 4100 is for you. However, if you can locate the older Monster '01 in a store somewhere, I would recommend that instead.
