Description: The Monster represents the year 2000 version of the CPS2500 and was renamed the Monster X in the year 2001 to make name room for a smaller Monster-class blaster. This long-barrelled weapon looks rather intimidating on the field and packs a good punch. Unlike the CPS2500, the Monster has Super-Charger capability for fast filling as well as six nozzle settings to choose from. The nozzles are rated as 5x, 10x, 11.5x, 6-way fan (typhoon blast), 4-way (power burst), and one shower-head type (aqua-storm) spray. However, the Monster's mid-sized firing chamber results in short firing times for the different nozzle patterns.
Switching between nozzles feels a little stiff at times, but perhaps this is due to the fact that this blaster has not been fully broken in. Be sure to have the nozzle correctly aligned, otherwise the blaster will not fire correctly if at all.
The quick-fill feature and the supplied 2-way QFD will prove invaluable if a functional hose is present. Thanks to Super Charger technology, the entire blaster (both firing chamber and reservoir) can be filled by jamming in the SC-nozzle into an active QFD. Make sure, however, to use the QFD supplied with the Monster and not the regular QFD. Though the adapter will fit, the size and weight of the Monster may damage regular QFDs.
Overall, the Monster makes a very intimidating main weapon. Its size will send most people running and its firing chamber will soak anyone who remains. The main drawbacks to this weapon are its sheer weight and the number of pumps required to pressurize the firing chamber. Thankfully, pumping is easy and the fact that one is holding one of the larger SuperSoaker available justifies the sacrifice in maneuverability.
Overall, the Monster is an awesome heavy cannon. Though heavy if on extended missions, the Monster makes a great base defense/heavy offensive weapon. A sidearm is recommended if travelling farther from a filling station.

Pros: A CPS-based, SC-capable really big water blaster able to thoroughly soak your opponent down to his/her undergarments in seconds. Its sheer size and water streams usually makes others take a second thought before attempting to engage the user of this weapon. 6 nozzle settings to choose from will meet virtually any soaking need.

Cons: Heavy. This things weighs a good deal when fully loaded. It also take many pumps (over 30) to load the firing chamber, but only a couple of blinks to empty it. Its sheer size will make most run or get a bunch to gang up one the user. It also becomes rather back-heavy when filling up reservoir from a hose or tap without a Q.F.D.

This blaster is the ultimate blaster for the right price. Look for a Sports Authority; you can get the thing for $30!!!! Now, my friend has a Monster XL and I dueled with him. Truthfully, I'm not too jealous. My drenching unit did pretty well against his. With six nozzle settings specializing in different ways of drenching, you'll be the talk of the neighborhood (at the pool, I feel like I'm bragging just by carrying this soaker. Everybody stares at me or says something like, "that's one big soaker!). Another thing on the pro side is that it has a gauge. Pump it and you'll see a little orange line in the soaker moving up. When it's all the way up, you are ready. On the con side, as others have said before me, you have to look at the nozzles to change them and the soaker needs to be pumped WAY too much if you're not using a hose and the two-way fast filler! You have to evade while still pumping and hiding's not as fun as drenching. Overall though, this soaker is awesome!

The Monster™ is an excellent heavy cannon that not only boasts power, but also strikes fear into others on the battlefield. It is a hybrid blaster which combines the features of C.P.S.™ and SuperCharger™ technology.

Featuring 6 nozzles, it can serve a variety of needs from heavy support to sniper roles. There are three nozzles and three spray nozzles located on one turret. The 3 nozzle sizes are 5x, 8.5x, and 11.5x the water output for an XP70. The spray nozzles are as follows: Aqua Storm, Power Burst, and Typhoon.

The Monster has one weak spot: a very small pressure tank. Weighing in at only 550mL (18.5980455 Ounces), capacity shot times are very short. This means that a skilled Super Soaker Warrior be behind this behemoth. Speaking of size, the Monster™ is 39cm long. That’s over 3 feet (36.6 inches)! Empty, it weighs 2.74kG (6 pounds), but full, it weighs 6.36962kG(14.03 pounds)! This isn’t as bad as it seems because it is an extremely well balanced blaster. This reduces the deadweight on your shoulder. My 1000 feels heavier than the Monster simply due it being imbalanced. This blaster has a bit of a learning curve to get used to but once mastered, you simply become unstoppable. This is not a weapon that should be used by snipers. Although this contradicts to what I said earlier, it is true. If in a battle and a sniper-type situation develops, then it would be OK for use. On the other hand, its large size makes it a terrible sniper weapon. Being so big can easily give away your position and it will slow down your running if need be. Your best bet would be to use this blaster as a stationary base guard or a bomber. ...or if your up to heavy assault. The supercharge ability comes in handy while in battle IF you're close to a hose. If you're playing in the woods then carry two gallons on your back. You’ll need it. Although the 120oz tank may be appealing to the buyer, they may suddenly find themselves short of water in a fight. With this blaster you should carry a CPS 1000 or some powerful XP that can get your butt in and out safely. Make sure your shot is right on. Remember, ammo is scarce. Hope you like my review.

Overview: I went insane when Ibought this blaster for $42(US) at Toys'R' Us. This thing is HUGE! I thought the Monster would be hard to pump, but it was light and easy. The blaster is evenly balanced so it doesn't feel like 14lbs (more like 8lbs)! The pressure chamber is easy to fill, taking only 17- 19 pumps, as opposed to the Monster XL's 40 pumps. The blaster can be held normally or like a rocket launcher (with reservoir on your shoulder. Easier to aim but reducedmobility). Speaking of rocket launchers, when you look at it from behind, it looks a little like the Quake 3 Rocket Launcher. I love this blaster. The Monster can also be filled with its own QFD. The only problems are that the pressure chamber is too small and the nozzles are hard to check when using. Oh, well, that's what you get for short pump times and 6 nozzles.

Pros: This blaster has 6 nozzles and a large capacity, feels light and is easy to pump, and looks like a rocket launcher. It also has a QFD and scores high on the intimidation level.

Cons: 6 Nozzles come at a big price... you have to look at them to tell what you're on and fiddle with them to get the right one. You have to get the nozzle in the correct position or else water sprays everywhere. The blaster is long and hard to be stealthy with. The pressure tank is small. Being a big, intimidating blaster, people will go after you first unless someone nearby has a CPS 3000, CPS 3200, or a MXL. I also have to tell you about the nozzles. There are 6 nozzles, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.

5x: Pros: longest shot time, best range. Cons: Lowest water deliverance, doesn't spread far.
8.5x: Pros: All rounder in most categories. Cons: Lower shot time and range than the 5x, doesn't spread far.
11.5x: Pros: High output, decent range. Cons: Not so good of a shot time, doesn't spread far.
Typhoon Blast: Pros: 6-way horizontal spread, decent range, somewhat high output. Cons: Bad shot time, up to 3 will hit an enemy at once.
Power Burst: Pros: Equivalent to 18x! Good range, High output, slight spread. Cons: Bad shot time
Aqua Storm: Pros: Equivalent to 25x! Very High output, good spread in all directions. Cons: Bad shot time, bad range. Hope you like my review, I'm out of here! (Posted 2000/04/13)
