2008 Stock Soaker Findings

For discussions and reviews of water blasters in general

Postby isoaker on Thu Jan 24, 2008 3:25 pm

Do they have it or, like places like Entertainment Earth, are listing it, but not actually able to ship it yet?

Then again, I've heard some stores should already be receiving water blaster products for 2008, thus they may be one of the lucky ones.

Another piston soaker. Color me unimpressed.

Pretty dumb that they tried to put "sights" on there too. Accurate effective range is well within point shooting distance, and most soakers are not that well suited for aiming anyway, meant more for hip shooting than anything.

Didn't notice the $25.99 price tag on that soaker; ouch! That can't be the MSRP for what appears to be a pump-action soaker.

I'm still stuck on how they, yet not the more typical distributors, have got this already. Anyone have any ideas?

Typical distributors may already have them, but are holding off putting them on the shelves until the weather gets warmer. Some areas have, in the past, had soakers on shelves even in December! I suppose online stores have more flexibility as they don't need to worry about shelf space in store.

Super Soaker are getting even more strange.

Another new blaster. You can use your own bottle now to increase capacity and lasting of the gun. Looks like its smaller then the QuickBlast, and is also a piston soaker. Looks like that'll be no use to me then.

I do however admit that is quite an interesting idea on what they have done there, although personally to me it just looks like something that was just thrown togther at the last minute.

Also, from the back of the box pictures, it looks like there are no other new blasters this year from Super Soaker. Shame, Super Soaker, shame, your just getting worse if this is the case. If this is all Super Soaker have to offer this year that is new, then they really haven't tried very hard (if at all). I'd actually put my money more on Water Warriors.

They have now added back of the box pictures of the QuickBlast, and we can now see the reservoir is screw off. They really are taking a step back if you ask me, doing that just makes things more awkward, it would been better if it just was fixed on with the usual twist off cap.

Yeah, I asked the seller if they could post pictures from the back of the box and they sent me a reply about this other gun too. This second gun just seems weird. I mean, who would buy it just for that feature? It's a gimmick with no real purpose. I suppose it might be a feature useful to those with a trillion water bottles, but I'd prefer one larger tank than a bunch of smaller, less durable ones.

As for the lack of pictures on the back, well, I don't see them listing the HydroBlitz either, but they're still selling that as far as I can tell. They might not list everything, so something else might appear... but that's just speculation.

^"Up to 2 liters", small-medium by CPS standards, but seems to be good for a piston. Main design problem here is the fact that they should've hung the bottle vertically (either inverted, PC style or hanging down like an M16's magazine), the inverted style for more efficiency, or the hang down for better durability.

Agree about their line-up though. It's a lump of gimmicky, useless crap, the only half-useful blaster right now being the Arctic Blast.

Hmm...I asked the seller the same question the other day as well about a picture of the back of the box when they listed the QuickBlast, and didn't get a reply, maybe you asked before I did. Either way, they did what was asked.

Going back to what I think about Super Soaker's line up, if it is like this with nothing else new and bigger, then I'm not really bothered what crap they put out unless it is something like a spherical CPS or just a powerful, and well designed CPS in general, but that could be a while.

Odd... Hasbro running out of good ideas or are we just seeing the smaller side of the line and that the rest is just remakes of last year's models? So far we've only seen new piston-based soakers. I'd presume there'd be at least some new air-pressure if not at least one new CPS-based blaster. Perhaps these are just what was able to ship early and that others are waiting. Then again, time will tell.

It sorta reminds me of an Ingram MAC-10 SMG.

More about the Water Warriors Jet.

The Water Warriors Jet (Picture can be seen on the 2008 Water Warriors Article is a small motorized pistol that will need a couple of AAA batteries to work; no rechargeable battery pack with this little soaker. Still no news, though, on its actual performance as a water blaster.

I saw a Super Soaker Quickblast thingy at a local Zellers. I didn't care enough to analyze it but now we know it's there.
I was an idiot!!! I saw a CPS 4100, CPS 2100 and a Monster XL, yet i decided on an EES Turbine!!!

The styling on the Avenger makes that one one of the ones that I'm more partial to. The cap appears not to be a screw cap however, and generally the guns that don't have screw caps are frequently more cheaply-made. I don't mean to generalize, but I hope that this doesn't occur with the Avenger however, for this gun looks quite nice.

Target had the BottleShot, Sneak Attack (Helix re-ish), and a blue MXD-6000. Looks like the hamster died in Hasbro's idea wheel.

Such a simple, yet brutally poignant statement. Made me laugh and cry at the same time. I would have hoped that there'd be a few more new blasters for the Super Soaker line, but thusfar it's been all too quiet.

Quick Blast is available here:

I don't have much hope for it though.
At his point I've resorted to focussing on homemade water-weaponry and encouraging the rest of my team to do the same.
