Well, I opted to open up the Water Warriors Tarantula box this morning. Thankfully, unlike other plastic-entombed electronics, the Tarantula's box was relatively easy to open, not requiring scissors (though some may prefer to use scissors or a knife to cut some of the tape).

The Tarantula is much smaller and lighter than the Scorpion on first impression. It also does not appear to have a separate PC, instead relying solely on its motor to generate pressure behind the stream. I need to charge the battery pack so I can't comment on how the stream performance is. One little thing I really do like is the battery pack access panel on the soaker; it uses a hand-turnable holder to keep the cover in place meaning one does not need to use a screwdriver to access the battery pack.

Some basic stats:
Length: 47.5cm ~19.4"
Width: 9.5cm ~3.9"
Height: 21.5cm ~8.5"

Reservoir Volume: 1700mL ~56.7oz.

First firing impressions: interesting blaster. Good, solid stream produced by the motorized pump. However, compared to what the Scorpion can do, I still prefer the Scorpion's separate PC and larger nozzle selection. The Tarantula seems to push out a solid 1.5x-2x stream (need to measure stats) at a good velocity. Pump is only activated when the trigger is pulled and isn't too noisy. Reminds me of a souped-up handheld battery-operated pipette (for those who have worked in a research lab). Overall, though, it seems nicely balanced and relatively light. The reservoir does not seem to use an intake tube, but its inner shape does not appear to quite funnel all the water towards the intake hole; a little water will likely be unusable, though haven't fully tested that yet.

One thing is for sure; this soaker would be very easy to dual-wield.

Nice review. I get the impression the Tarantula is more of a dual-wielding or backup weapon than a primary weapon, which would be fine.

Yeah, not a heavy hitter, but being motorized, would serve as a good back-up or a primary in a smaller water fight.

Too bad it doesn't have a strap, but then again, few soakers that size do.
