I was doing stats measurements on my 2002-03 Monster XL. They are quite interesting, it has been more shortened down in the reservoir than I thought.

Anyway, on to the important bits.

And before anyone says anything, I DIDN'T measure these incorrectly!

Its quite surprising, it seems that the Monster XL 2002-03 x* nozzles have been made pretty small, as it seems that the highest output nozzles are the spray settings like Aqua Storm, Typhoon Blast and Power Burst.

From what this has shown, it seems to me that both versions of Monster XL have advantages and disadvantages over each other, I'll try and get a 2000-01 model Monster XL if I can to see what the confirmed differences are.

Interesting stats there. My 2000 (or 2001, I'm not sure) MXL shoots for 14 seconds on the 5x (I measured it). All I can say is that my MXL is way different than iSoaker's. I don't think it's possible to make conclusions based on just one gun; it takes three or four to make a close to accurate measurement. Anyway, nice stats there. If everyone posted their stats and said what version they had it would make things a lot easier.

It has been noted before that the newer Monster XL's nozzles were definitely smaller than the original's nozzles (it was posted once-upon-a-time, but it perhaps lost somewhere). Your output reflects the finding. Are you planning on writing up a more complete review? I'd like to re-post these stats onto the iSoaker.com review page.

I will post a review, but I'll be busy for a few days, so once I get some time then I will write up one. While I think I remember that there was something like this posted, I didn't think that the nozzles were that small, oh well, it still performs well anyway.

I actually wouldn't mind getting my hands on a 2000-01 Monster XL sometime this year, although I would probably be after a new in box one, despite the price it may come to, it'll then mean that I can compare two versions that are in very good condition (I've had my 2002-03 MXL for nearly 3 years and its still like new).

If you ask me, I really like the Monster XL, and it has proven fun in my battles and shall be in ones to come despite the weight and pumping.

Now while I have time I am able to post the review.

The Monster XL is part of the Monster line released by Larami. The biggest gun of the line, opinions vary, you will either like this gun, or you won't.

To me, I really like this gun, it has good power and range (even though people call it underpowered for its size) and the output is massive along with the shot time which is fed with a nearly 50oz firing chamber. This can drench someone in seconds, and poses quite a big threat on the field depending on the situation or fight style you are in, and with 11 nozzle settings plus an off setting nozzle allowing just one nozzle to be fired for conservation, your enemy won't just get wet like on the Super Soakers out now, they'll get soaked and beyond!

There were two versions of this gun, the first was released in 2000-01, this had longer and bigger nozzles on it as well as a bigger reservoir than the 2002-03 version. The 2002-03 version had a squashed reservoir and stubbier nozzles due to retailers wanting it to be shortened to fit on the shelves better. The model being reviewed here is the 2002-03 version.

The Monster XL quite literally is a beast of a gun and looks a lot like an insect, very cool looking, and really intimidating (at least around my neighbourhood if they saw it

!). It even has bipods! It does its job, with an endless supply of drenching nozzles, great shot time and reasonable power and range. This thing is also very durable as well, its built like a rock, and lasts ages, nearly everything on this gun is strong like the internals and pump .etc.

Although it comes at a price, weight, this thing is pretty heavy, I struggle with it a bit, but after a while you'll get more and more used to it. The number of pumps it takes is a lot as well, so in battles with a lot of running and franticness I wouldn't take this as a main weapon, its best used for base defence next to a QFD, making your defence almost invincible.

Despite these flaws, you just gotta' love the Monster XL no matter how flexible its usefulness is in your situations, and even if its one of your only guns, you can still wipe the floor with all the new soakers out there plus a fair few older ones. It looks good in your arsenal. Your best bet is to find them on eBay in the off-soaker season, as they are cheaper at that time. I recommend it.

I was just about to ask somebody to post the pictures soon because I have been getting confused between the two Monster XL's. I've been trying to get a Monster XL for along time, and now I have missed the non-soaker season so I'm trying to get it as soon as I can before the prices reach there max in the Summer.

Are you sure about wanting a Monster XL? You'd have to pay an awful lot for it, and you'll find that though it is pretty good, you would probably be happier with a lighter (and more powerful) CPS gun like the 1500 or 2500. You sound like I did when I first got my MXL.

Oh, and what guns do people have whom you fight against? The MXL kills all guns from the 2004-2006 lineup, so if that is all your opponents have, I guess I could understand. But I find myself favoring my lighter, more poweful CPS 1700 and CPS 2000 over my MXL. Not to say the MXL is bad and all, but there are superior guns on eBay than it, for considerably lower prices. If you want a large overpowering weapon, get a CPS 3000, 3200, or 2500. You would be happier, and I have tested all those guns and know they are good.

I am sure about getting a Monster XL. I only have one opponet so it is me versus him only , except his little brother might be coming in to the battles soon. My freind's favorite gun is his CPS 4100 so he uses it alot. I have been thinking about getting some of the guns you listed above like the CPS 3000 the CPS 3200 or the CPS 2500 but, I have not been seeing to many CPS guns on ebay which is bad because I don't have many. I lost a auction on ebay for a CPS 2500 this year but, I have won one for a CPS 2700 on ebay but, I am at least looking for a couple more CPS's. How much would you think a heavy CPS gun would cost on ebay like a CPS 3200 because I have not seen many to get a good estimate of the price.

Hey, I wouldn't mind having that Mk. 1 either (I have a Mk. 2 right now).

But I'm sure he paid a lot for each of his guns. I myself regret having paid about $90 (including shipping) for my MXL and then seeing one go for $40 a month later.

They can go for anywhere from $40 for $80 or beyond. Don't pay $100 for one; it's not worth it.

But listen to this. If you want to win water fights, get a 3200. If you want to scare inexperienced opponents, get a MXL. When a CPS 3200 user fights an MXL user, the 3200 will win every time. There are few water fights you will not win. Oh, and you can easily run with the 3200, but not at all with the 3000, or the backpack might be damaged.

My brother has a 3200, and the only way I ever beat him is when I use superior skill to my advantage (or when I use the 17 foot advantage my CPS 2000 has over him).

If you want an MXL, go ahead. It's a great base-defense weapon. But don't pay $100 for one. You can get it much cheaper.

Yeah, my MXL 2000 (or 2001, I don't know) version LOOKS better. Those stubby nozzles don't look that great. Oh, and I ordered a Blazer from Amazon just yesterday. We'll see who gets their's first.

Is the Mk.3 SC600 the one with the grey handle? If so, it is the weaker one. About the Amazon Blazer: I would be in the shipping race, but my mom is being grumpy, and wants to buy something along with it to save on shipping. I told her it gets shipped seperately, but she won't listen. I will be the one to mod the new Blazer though, so don't worry. I can use it to see if the mod is easy or not, then I can write an article on how to perform the mod correctly.

The SC600 Mk.3 is the one with blue and neon orange colours. Another theory is that its not an Mk.3 but just a european Mk.2, since some countries have a different colour skeems.
The one with the grey handle is Mk.2. The one with the lame-ass power is Mk.1 which has a black pump.

Those small nozzles make the Monster XL kind of not look so big , and it also looks weird because the quick fill adapter and the nozzeles are not at the same length.
