Super Soaker Hydro Cannon Modification

Postby GJIV on Fri Feb 25, 2011 6:31 pm

Hi there^^ Finaly, after LOOONNNNNG TIME of waiting, I do also get my HYDRO CANNON ... :D

I will go and modify it tomorow^^ It packs a pretty good power and also got a kind of recoil^^ The shield is also bigger than I thought. But the

FIRING TIME
PC VOLUME
RESERVOIR VOLUME

are shit...Fortunately I can change these things with modification^^ HEHE...

I am thinking of installing a CPS 2000 MK1 bladder as PC. To get more water supply I will install a water backpack with about 8 litres. PC volume should be around 800 ml, I would say. Sadly speaking the firing time will not increase that much since the nozzle is so big(GREAT TO USE AS A SHOTGUN! HAAHAH).

I made this thread so people tell me what they think. THe more ideas the better modification will come up in the end :D I will also add pics and other stuff, and a video in the end when the things is done :D

But first of all, I will go to bed...Till tomorow lovely membership!

I would give it a smaller nozzle. And maybe it would be possible to use the reservoir as the pressure chamber, like I did with my Super Shot Blast. You would probably have to use a backpack reservoir, like me.

ok, original PC is replaced by a big CPS bladder, a cut CPS 2000 Mk1 bladder(ruptured, just a bit shorter...)
Image
-->My finger marks the length of the original bladder, about half the length of the white PC casing...

New bladder nearly installed and reservoir removed:

THere was one thing, I had to saw off. Plastic fixment for the original PC...

Finished gun, without backpack:

Optical look is just about the same^^ Haha. The great thing is that I can reconstruct the original Hydro Cannon easily! When I think the mod is shit, I just build up the old Soaker again! THis might be the best weapon to modify, haha.

Did I mention that I love its big, fat ball valve ? :D

This might reduce shot time as the older CPS bladder has less room to expand. (It cannot expand lengthwise very well, which is a bad thing; bladders should expand evenly or damage may result over time.) You may want to look into giving some more room for it to expand lengthwise.

Nozzle mods are pretty much a given for this blaster. I'd have to agree on the ball valve design too; it looks quite impressive and looks to be a first in any stock water blaster.

It will expand very well lengthwise, since he removed the reservoir.

I am sorry: I forgot to post a certain image ! CA99 is totally right here, the bladder would NOT expand well without any kind of casing and would end in bursting! Right!

But, of course, I added a PVC-casing, where the bladder expands, so it is saved from any sharp plastic parts and can only expand lengthwise, as all CPS guns. I might find a bigger PVC - pipe-casing, because the bladder of the 2000 Mk1 can expand so much in diameter!

@ Martianshark: Video is made when the backpack is installed, which I will do today :D

Note: At the right side of the gun, where the reservoir was, you can see(look carefully) the end of my installed PC-casing. This casing beginns at the very front, where the bladder is connected till about 10 cm next to the right end of the gun.

Wow! That's quite impressive. 600mL is pretty good for a blaster this size too.

Any plans for a nozzle yet? Though as is, it looks to be excellent for close range and hit/run.

it finally deserves to be called the "hydro cannon" :goofy:
so, you practically have a cps 2k mkII with a backpack. nice!

oh. well, you have the best of both worlds (sorta :goofy: ), you have the output of a mk2, yet the raw power of a mk1!

the mk 2 has less output than the Mk 1.

I think the MK II bladder may mostly be the exact same thing as the MK I except longer and perhaps slightly weaker. The MK II is longer at base size, but only expands to the same volume as the MK I, so it can't expel as much water. To get around that, simply allow it to expand further and it should reach the "capacity" of the original MK I, and possibly the power as well.

so would it be possible to cut off the end of the bladder and turn a mk2 into a mk 1?
