A brief overview on Contesting Points Awarded is now posted. Basically, it explains how members should go about informing me if they feel a report deserves more (or less) points than it was awarded.

In that case, I feel my 4th of July soakfest report deserves more points. I had been waiting all year for the war, and I was hoping to get at least 25 points. Apparently I need to take a picture, but that was impossible for two reasons:

-I'm not in charge of the war. No one is. It starts spontaneously at around 5 pm, so I can't really get everyone together for a group photo.

-I wouldn't want to take pictures in the middle of the war because my camera could easily be soaked and ruined.

Anyway, I was hoping you would just trust me. Hopefully I'll own a waterproof camera by next year.

By the way, I've noticed something that should change about the points and rewards system. You should be able to get more points based on how long the war was. According to the current points and rewards system, if you spend all day dueling your friend, it will still only be worth as much as if you had dueled him for 10 minutes. Then again, if it had been all day, you would have more to report.

While I may believe you, the rules are designed to be fair to all participants and the requirement for the photo proof was included since the first version of the rule set. It would be unfair of me to grant your report more points solely because I may be more familiar with you versus a newer member who I know less and also reports to have had a war with 20 people. I do understand the challenges of taking photos during a water war, but as many have been able to take photos safely without ruining their camera, myself included, I consider it a challenge, not an impossibility.
A photo does not necessarily need to be a formal group photo, but an action shot showing a good number of participants would go a long way to providing adequate proof.

Time is even harder to verify than number of participants. I thought about having a bonus modifier for time as well, but it would be even harder to verify. And, as you noted, if you battle longer, you have more to report. What I may end up changing is the maximum number of points based on report length. Of course, any change to the point system would only affect future reports and not apply retroactively.

iSoaker, can the training mission type things listed under games on the wiki count towards points? I was considering doing these in slow weeks, or attaching them to skirmishes on the same day. Would this be considered for points, or to extend a battle report, akin to playing multiple rounds. Not much to report, but you could do it 10 times, report your score and things you noticed about blasters or techniques.

Training missions or similar such activities are worth points though they are not necessarily true battles, rather practice before the next actual battle. Of course, a report is necessary for points to be awarded.

Physical prize requirement adjusted.
While there remain three (3) Vindicators up for grabs for those who reach 100 points, to win the Vindicator AND Vanquisher prize, instead of it being the first to reach 300 points, the winner will now be determined by a drawing based on members who achieve more than 100 points.

Basically, for every 100 points a member acquires, his/her name will be added to the drawing pool. Thus, if a member only has 100 points, his/her name will be added once. Members with 200 points will have their names added twice, thus increasing the probability of them winning in the final draw. Members with 300 points will have their names added three times, and so on.

This way, there's a reason for members to wish to continue to contribute reports, stories, and/or help develop games. In the former version, once someone had claimed the grand prize, there is less reason for others to continue submitting since the grand prize would have been won.

At the end of the first season (Sept 21, 2011), I plan on locking the League battle report and fictional story forums, making them archives of all that was done during the League season. For those who have or plan on creating fictional stories that they wish to continue even after the season ends, I'm open to duplicating threads into the open fan fiction forum.

The primary League forum will remain open, though, since it is here where plans for future League seasons will be discussed.

If anyone has any serious objection to the idea of having the two League report forums made read-only, feel free to voice your thoughts.

That sounds okay, but I think it would be cooler if it was all put up onto iSoaker.com.

I've been thinking about that (and battle reports in general) for some time. Due to the nature of the reports and the fact that I no longer wish to severely restrict the sort of equipment used (no real weaponry always stands, of course), it seems like it would make more sense to push reports to iSoaker.net, actually, perhaps even to a subsection of the wiki. Content on iSoaker.com is being kept solely on stock water blasters with, at most, only minor cosmetic changes; there may be some old articles and content that needs to be moved/removed, but I edit things as I re-discover them.

As for battle reports, as battle reports and stories are not meant to be significantly edited after posting, such pages would end up locked to general editing.

I haven't 100% decided on this yet, but I'm definitely strongly leaning towards the idea.

League Point System tweaked

Points for images included with battle reports clarified. While all sorts of images are appreciated, for points, action shots and/or pictures of the water warriors/Players involved with their water blasters are desired, not just pictures of equipment or locations alone. Of course, equipment pics and location pics can and should be included with reports to add to the overall value of the report if available, but those type of pics, alone, will not receive image point credits.

The main point of having battle pics is to show people having fun with their water blasters; seeing people playing is much more inspiring than just seeing some blaster lying on some surface.

Tweak made to the Contesting awarded points section.

Basically, a deadline of one (1) week from the day points were awarded is now set regarding when points for a report can be contested. After that, the points given can no longer be disputed.

Update: submission rules being tweaked; for games to count as being an "Official League Game" played, the game name as it appears in the iSoaker.net Wiki must be used. There are many variations of OHS/OHK-type games and want it to be clear that the more specific rule set was used.

I'm also nixing the points for reports describing how well game rules worked out. This requirement will be a given for any future report wanting to qualify for additional League game points. Games played that are not official League games will not be considered for such bonus points.

Physical Prize Adjustment:
The three (3) Water Warriors Vindicators are still up for grabs for the first 3 members to reach 100 points.

However, the grand prize has been changed to a Water Warriors PulseMaster and Water Warriors Vanquisher while the best water warfare image prize is now changed to a Water Warriors Vanquisher.

While the community summer water war is going to be happening in a few more days, reports from others not participating have appeared to slow.

Just as a recap, there are still two (2) Water Warrior Vindicators up for grabs for the next two League members to accumulate more than 100 points. As well, there be the grand prize of the Water Warriors Pulse Master AND Water Warriors Vanquisher to be chosen from all members who accumulate more than 100 points by Sept. 21, 2011. Lastly, there's the Best Pic award of a Water Warriors Vanquisher to be given to the best water warfare photo submitted.

As always, good luck to all participants!

At present, there are 3 members with over 100 points and another 4 members with over 50 points. While all the 100 points prizes are claimed, there will still be a drawing for the grand prize of a Water Warriors Vanquisher AND a Water Warriors Pulse Master from those who have over 100 points as of Sept 21, 2011. There will also still be the prize of the Water Warriors Vanquisher to be awarded to the one who supplies my favourite water warfare picture from the League season.

Good luck to all!

Of course, for League Development threads, don't forget to keep up with the following threads:

Are the pulse master and Vanquisher separate drawings?

The Grand Prize is a single drawing; winner gets both the Pulse Master and Vanquisher. There is a separate prize for best water warfare image of a Vanquisher. Basically, 3 blasters, 2 prizes, 2 possible winners; Grand Prize winner to be selected from all who have accumulated more than 100 points while the picture prize is open to all members who have submitted pictures in their reports.
