Linking to Articles from iSoaker.com

Postby isoaker on Thu Sep 02, 2010 3:32 pm

There are a number of great and informative threads posted on iSoaker.net thata re of full article quality. Definitely want to get the information contained within more visible, but there are many ways to do so. In the past, I typically would ask for permission from the initial thread creator to re-post their article on iSoaker.com, but am also open to simply linking to thread pages from iSoaker.com, directly. If a thread is posted as a page on iSoaker.com, a link would still be provided to the original thread. The benefit of re-posting means more locations of the information for being found as well as no loss of information availability in the event that iSoaker.net is temporarily down.

Anyhow, I'm curious if members, particular those who create great article-type posts, have a preference! Cast a vote and share your thoughts!

An official article layout is more formal and presents better for those who aren't active forum members. It also involves more work so I can't really decide.

Oh, don't worry about the more work involved; that's my problem! :goofy: I'm asking more to get the feelings from the authors of posts/threads I'd be interested in re-posting. What are your preferences as the content creators?

Well I don't know if you're going to re-post any of mine or not, but I'll offer my opinion anyway. I personally think it would look better if you reposted them on iSoaker.com itself. That way, it's more like... Ahh I can't really describe it, but I just think it would go better.

Based on feedback and votes (albeit limited), looks like I'll go for re-posting article-worthy threads on iSoaker.com and linking to the original thread on iSoaker.net.

That said, I still need to push up some submissions that are still sitting in my Inbox. Once I get through those, I'll begin going through the forums and then asking some members whether it'd be ok to repost specific threads. While it may be simpler to ask for general permission, I still prefer to give members specific choices (as well as notifying them) about whether or not a thread would be copied over to iSoaker.com.

Soak on!
