Critics' Corner

Postby isoaker on Fri Apr 30, 2010 10:52 am

Over the next few months, I'll be posting up special threads here for more in-depth analysis of the newer water blasters released this year. While there are reviews for the majority of newer blasters, the idea here will to be to go into more detail and discussion on what was done right and what could have been done better.

First Critics' Corner thread to be posted next week featuring the Water Warriors Vanquisher.

Soak on!

I've only had a chance to briefly look over the Super Soaker releases for 2010; it seems like a majority are pump action which is a little disappointing.
My avatar changes to reflect what water gun I am most excited about.

At least most of them have different features. The Shot Blast has an internal pressure chamber, making it not exactly a piston gun. The Rattler is a basic piston gun like the Vaporizer, but with nicer styling. And the Bottle Blitz allows you to connect water bottles directly instead of pouring it in.

At least he Hydro Furies have triggers and probably make somewhat decent assasin weapons.

Isn't this pretty much the same thing a product discussions?

Not quite; more like more enhances product discussions. My thought is to, of course, link to the various Critics' Corner threads from the product discussion and even product review pages assuming the generated discussions prove useful. Unlike the product discussions, I hope for the Critics' Corner threads to go into more technical details and really pick apart different aspects of a particular blaster as opposed to the general summary and description that the product discussion threads have. The point here is greater depth of detail that is not wanted right away since not everyone may be interested in this level of critiquing, but for those who are, these threads will hopefully provide more for interested people to chew on.

If you're still not clear on the intended difference, it'll hopefully make more sense after the first thread gets posted.

Sounds like my cup of tea. I'll be sure to make my usual remarks regarding Hasbro's releases. Also, I should note that what we look for in blaster improvements has not changed for well over a decade.
