Potential Futures of the Online Water Warfare Community

Postby isoaker on Thu Aug 20, 2009 10:17 am

iSoaker.net will be changing from its current more general set-up to a much more iSoaker.com-specific one. Reasons are simply due to my interest i keeping a forum running, but also being realistic in that I am having less time available and that a more centralized / joint-group community would better serve the needs of the members. As my free time gets less, each day I get more and more tempted to make the forum conversion here live. The main thing stopping me has been uncertainty as to where to point members to who wish to post more general water blaster / water warfare discussions.

Presently, there are two main choices for general community discussions:
WaterWarfare.com Forums
Super Soaker Central Forums

Initially, it was hoped that WaterWarfare.com (WWc) would become the new community forum with members migrating from here and Super Soaker Central (SSC) to WWc. However, due to lack of time/access from the creators of WWc, that board has a spam-bot problem currently. Granted, the relaunch date for WWc is set for Sept 21, 2009, so there's still over a month between now and then for things to be fixed.

Of course, Super Soaker Central could be used as the main hub either until WWc gets up and running or indefinitely if WWc doesn't work out as planned. Using SSC is an option I'd definitely support, though, admittedly, I still would prefer to see WWc grow if its creators are willing.

Then again, when it boils down to it, it all depends on what the existing membership ends up preferring. Perhaps some will be content with the more limited nature of the converted iSoaker.net forums while others will end up preferring posting new threads and interacting at WWc and/or SSC.

In the end, time will decide where people end up going and spending their time.

As for me, I'll be around, just differently.

I'll be at WWc and SSC, but we NEED to fix the spam problem, it's getting ridiculous!

Was captain of a team, but team disbanded due to lack of interest.

Thing is "We" can't do much. Need those with more complete access to the board to make fixes at WWc.
