This is basically a larger MD 3000. I have 2 of them and they both get around 35 ft of range. The grip is of course, is no better the the 3000.

So it might make a pretty good back-up, but I would still recommend the Max-D 2000. It can't shoot as far and has a smaller reservoir, but it's easier to conceal and is more comfortable.(Mine has a stiff trigger though. I think this is due to the fact that it is broken.)
