Mid-Summer Lull

Postby isoaker on Fri Jul 24, 2009 9:17 am

'tis appears to be the typically mid-summer-lull time. It is at this time of the year I prefer using water blasters as opposed to talking about them online since the newest blasters are fairly well known by now and it's still too early to find out about what may be in-store for next year.

That said, this year's summer has hardly been worth calling summer. With to much rain and temperatures rarely getting hot, the number of good soakin' days feels rather limited this year. I still haven't managed to match a good day with free time to do range measurements, either! Rather frustrating.

Of course, there is still hope for better weather in August. Time shall tell...

Hope your summer has been more summery!

I've had 2 out of 4 wars last summer take place in the rain with distant thunder. It's quite some fun actually, and creates a rather intense environment to fight in. Of course, soakfests probably don't work in that weather, and range testing is pretty much impossible.

The only issue for me now is stagnancy. I'm still trying to get the next war planned and going, while completing the next WBL on time. If attendance is too low however, I still may not get to use the WBL since they tend to only work with games that have larger teams. They are also a bit risky to use in the neighborhood, so I will have to limit PSI very strictly, or require high angle shots to minimize risk of hitting windows. With the size of the field we play on, 40 PSI is the absolute max I'll allow for the Douchenator, but anything more than 20-30 may not even be necessary. Even at very low pressures, balloons can sail accross the field and easily bombard any position since out field is pretty small.
