Arctic Blast or Flash Flood?

Postby marauder_4 on Wed Apr 22, 2009 11:39 am

I own both but have yet to test them side by side or vs each other in battle because my Flash Flood needs its Max D trigger/nozzle system fixed. They are pretty similar in size and design. What do you guys think, which one is better? Why?

Slightly surprised no one else commented on this one. At any rate, for me, I like the rounded looks/lines of the Flash Flood over the angular Arctic Blast. In terms of performance, both are rather similar, though, if I recall correctly, my AB seems to have a slight bit more power than my Flash Flood on the "Flood" setting, but that stat is tough to measure accurately, anyhow. Oh, the Flash Flood's PC is slightly larger, too.

I definitely think the FF is better. It has a bigger PC and main stream, and I think it has more power than the AB.

Flash Flood all the way. If you're looking for power and tremendous kickback, with a solid main stream, the Flash Flood is the obvious choice. The only issue about the Flash Flood is that, in my experience, FFs aren't that durable. With their Max-D triggers and sometimes stiff pumps, they can begin to be a problem after a year or two. Both of mine broke in different ways in only one year.

Not sure sure about the AB's durability, having only ever used one, not owned one, but the AB is likely more durable.

The AB's triggers are also Max-D (obviously) and can be prone to breakage as well, though it seems that they didn't design them to break after a few months of use.

The newer FFs have the better design, they're out this year also.

Have the FF internals actually been redesigned?

They might have just used better springs that aren't designed to break as soon.
