Summer of 2008

Plans, plans, plans... so much I want to do, so much I need to do, and so little time to do all of it! :goofy:

However, all that aside, I'm striving to turn over a new leaf. Seems to be a bigger leaf to turn than I had first imagined, but I do believe it shall pay off in the end. For the summer of 2008, I have one primary goal for both iSoaker.net and iSoaker.com. It can all be summed up with one word:

Simplify.

In many ways, my web developments have gotten somewhat bloated over the course of all these years. Even with the new start of iSoaker.net, the original forum set-up has enlargened and grown in layering a little more than I had initially imagined. While it seemed like a good idea at the time, looking at the sheer number of subforums on the board makes me wonder whether all these divisions are really needed or whether the board would be better off with a few less forums. Of course, some changes like the migration of the _underground to iSoaker.net makes sense from an overall development perspective.

Of course, Simplify does not translate into reduce content or functionality. Rather, my goal is to remove clutter and make content easier to find and easier to digest. Some means of simplifying things may actually end up requiring more complex behind-the-scenes functionality to actually make it work well.

As for iSoaker.com, while I've been pushing up various reviews and submissions, I'm working on a much greater, fundamental change to the site. Development goes well (actually faster than I had first anticipated), but I still cannot give an estimate when any of those changes will go live. While I had first considered these developments for the 2009 iSoaker.com site, I'm presently tempted to strive for an earlier release. All depends on how much I manage to get done during the summer and whether I feel the new pages are ready for deployment.

It's been quite a good year thusfar and am looking forward to what the summer shall bring our way!
