Welcome to iSoaker.net

Welcome to iSoaker.net, the iSoaker.com Network!

The bulk of the threads from the old iSoaker.com Ikonboard have been transposed into this new forum. However, Ikonboard members will need to reset their passwords in order to be able to gain access to the board. There will be undoubtedly some tweaking that needs to be done over the next little while, but hopefully this new hope for the forums will prove better, faster, and more stable than previous incarnation. If you have problems accessing your account, feel free to email me and let me know your registration difficulties. Thanks!

Soak on!

One thing I would like to say right off the bat is that I love how much faster these forums are. Especially searching. Searching is dramatically faster here.

You also should find phpBB has more features to prevent spam registrations than Ikonboard. I would add a registration field that's description is something like "Type randy into the box" that checks if randy indeed was written into the box. Little things like that make your forum different from others, so spam bots won't register.

Yeah, these forums feel much quicker in loading and searching than the ol' Ikonboard. As for registration, I'm looking into installing an additional check. I also want to get a Quick Reply form added. All in due time; just got this board up and running yesterday. :goofy:

Wow, the forums are rather nice. It's too bad you had to use a different domain name though.

It's weird to see information about each post and the smilies on the right hand side, though. Still, it makes sense - the eye is attracted to items on the left since we're trained to read from left to right. My browser sidebar is on the right, actually.

I've heard mixed feelings about whether or not phpBB is hard to skin. It is certainly customizable though. I would just make sure you don't use too many extensions/modules. Because phpBB is open source, they release updates often, for security reasons, and it could be torture to update all your modules every few weeks. B)

Any chance of adding some skin choices? phpBB3 is very weird. Oh, and could you change my username to DX? I've been dying for that change lol.

I installed the other skin that comes with this forum, but there don't appear to be too many skins available just yet.

@Duxburian: Alias now changed. :cool:

I see you changed the icons for stickied threads (I think)...earlier it was hard to distinguish them from regular threads on the forum pages. All the little details really do count.

I'd put a smiley there but I miss the regular old happy, sad, winky, etc. faces. The WordPress-style smilies are just weird, in my opinion.

EDIT: Oh, and it would be better to have the boards redirect you to the thread you just posted in automatically rather than bringing up a new page. I remember saying that for the WaterWarfare.com phpBB too. I guess I'll get used to it though.

Wanted to edit that in...but "You can no longer edit that post" showed up. That's a setting that definitely needs to be changed.

Oh, nevermind...

EDIT again: Say what? That edit worked! And I see the boards do redirect you. After a while.

I guess that EDIT wasn't accepted...is there a 5 second timeout or something?

@Silence: yeah, there was a setting I hadn't noticed before that was set to 1min allowable editing time. That should now be disabled, thus members should be able to edit their posts whenever (hopefully). Granted, the editing process is a little strange/different than before; something to get used to, I suppose.

...and I do plan on replacing smileys/emoticons eventually. I prefer the Ikonboard ones so I'll be transposing those over in time, too.
