While there are no immediate plans, I've still been considering the thought that these forums may eventually be changed at iSoaker.com, dithing the current Ikonboard-based forums into something else.

Thing is, I'll admit that I've grown quite used to how this type of Ikonboard operates and wouldn't want to change things too drastically. At the same time, there are some limitations this board has that another type of board may offer.

I still not satisfied with other board's features enough to make me want to switch things, but I just thought I should mention that a board change in the future is definitely a possibility.

If it were to ever happen, it wouldn't be a sudden drastic change. As well, this board would remain up (though closed) for informational purposes.

Nothing planned just yet... but I'll disclose that I've been keeping an eye out for better things.

Which forum software do you have in mind? I've also gotten used to this board and what it represents. to me, the current skin represents what's left of WWN, changing forum type will snuff out the last memory of the place. But I won't make any more comments until I know what forum type the switch would be to. :;):

hehe... interesting point!

As I noted above, I still haven't quite found a forum that fits my requirements so presently, there's nothing. I am trying to learn more aspects of coding and such such that if I still can't find a forum I like, I hope to be able to take an available forum and add to it features I feel that are lacking in the original.

No plans just yet to change things, but it is something that's been in my mind for a little while. Just thought I'd share my thoughts with the membership and get a feel of what you guys thing as a group.

You could import an Ikonboard's posts into another forum easily if you would like to keep them. Lots of forum software have converters. phpBB is one free solution I know that has one, and vBulletin has one for most every forum software there is, though vBulletin costs money.

Right now, I would go for a phpBB because there are many available hacks and from my experience, hacking the code is easy. I don't like much of how phpBB operates, but it does have a good SEO modification that would help you our in the search engines and also has an Ikonboard converter.

@ Doom: Thanks for the suggestions, but while Ikonboard is more limited than phpBB, I'd rather stick to the current set up as phpBB doesn't quite have what I'm looking for. It'd be nice to be able to import these posts into a potential future forum. There are many criteria that do need considering should the software behind the iSoaker.com Forums be changed.

I probably posted this thread way too early as I actually do not have a new potential forum system in mind. :goofy:

The Invision powerboard and vBulliten are good potential future choice's should we have to change (which i don't want to). Anything will work just don't try bravenet, the aquazone forum used bravenet and it was very dissorganized, it also took forever to load on my computer.
