General news, announcements, and other posts from and/or related to other water warfare-related news and websites.

Those numbers are actually very accurate (at least for SSC), which surprised me a lot. According to the statistics in the Administrator's CP, we've had 9464 posts from this time last year. Then again, that contains several months with over 1000 posts because of last year's popularity.

I also checked the total posts made in 2004, and here's the official number (soon to increase slightly once I import in CuteNews): 16021. I think you should revise your numbers iSoaker, because if Super Soaker Central only got 16000 posts that year, WaterWar.net most definetly got over 20000 (including both boards together).

I guess I'd underestimated post numbers in past years. :goofy:

Less than 10000 posts at SSCentral in the past year? I find that surprising and partly wonder whether some posts may had been lost during the forum migration?

At any rate, as NiborDude noted, while there are some new members, the influx this year has been lower than in years past. 'Membership' numbers may have increased, but active membership numbers is about level while activity per member is likely partly dropping.

At the same time, posting activity doesn't necessarily mean that things are so bad. IMO, the general quality of posts have improved and there have been some good discussions in the recent past. Also, the number of spam and flame wars is currently lower as well. Increased activity also means increased likelihood of conflict between members. I figure, during this 'lull',it's a good time to do some serious site developments in hopes to attract new members for the coming year.

You are absoloutley right. Long before i joined any forum i had been viewing this forum and reading what was going on. The only reason I joined last month and not back in May was because i had finaly overcome my paranoia of other people kowing my e-mail and sending viruses to my computer. And the only reason i found soakermedia was because i had seen a link to it in one of this forums topics.

Edit: I am not one of those "new members" who stays for a month and leaves oh no not me. I plan to stay here for the long haul and not leave after 100 posts like the "new members".I want every webmaster of every site to know that i am going to stay here for years and make a impact on soakerdom whether you like it or not.

If you could make a webring universal page to be used instead of each sites links page, that would be okay. I don't use topic specific webrings, because they seem cold and dead. Having one would be great for us. Is it just me or do webmasters never update there links? :p

It's not a 'never', but it's definitely not that frequent. On the whole, apart from my News page and the Main page, my Links page is still updated more times per year than any other page on iSoaker.com. Thing is, unless one has a reliable, active dead-links checker, unless one spends the time to check each link individually, there's no other way to know whether links are still valid. I try to add in newer sites when I hear about them, but I don't just add every site that's suggested since I've seen too many sites that are pretty much just a main page with a bunch of dead links. With respect to sites: no content, no link.
