The 2001 is as different from the rest of the Monster series, as it is similar. She's small, has small size for a Monster, smaller nozzles than normal, smaller capacity. She's perfect for a good Light/Medium sized CPS. But, alike the rest of the family, she's built strong, has plenty of nozzles, and has that same styling and SuperCharging ability the Monster series is known for...
And like the rest of the Monsters, the Nozzles are something worth going over. The Combonation of 2.5x/4x/8.5x/Fan is one that has not only never been seen before - but if someone brought nozzle sizes like that up on Aquatica Yahoo Club a year ago, you'd probably be booted... (well, not really.. :) ).

Perhaps not a big blast like the conventional 5x, but this annoying little stream still has good size and damage capability typical of Constant Pressure System guns, and lasts for a Real LONG time. By far - a great nozzle size! I Love it! One advantage of this is that if you pump fast enough while blasting you can maintain a constant and very long lasting blast that will keep going like it does until the reservoir is empty! |

A tad smaller than 5x, in both nozzle diameter and output volume, but with good damage ability, and the best range of all the nozzles on the gun, the 4x nozzle is the best for long distance shots. |

While it is just an 8.5x nozzle, as the other Monster (Monster X and Monster XL) have 11.5x nozzles, this one does considerable damage. The output volume of this nozzle is very effective for dumping real good on somebody, plus the added kick of lasting for 2 whole seconds. |

Well, not really, but how often do you run up against a line of people close enough to use this weapon. Perhaps good for getting 2 or 3 people off your back, but for much else... Improvise. Also, one important thing worth noting is that the holes on the fan burst nozzle are considerably smaller than those on the Monster X and Monster XL. |
Being only 4 nozzles on the Monster, they are formed in a way much differently than the other Monsters.

Fast-Fillin'
QFD's.
This is what I love most
about the 2001 Monster. The other Monsters take forever to fill at the
Fast-Filler if they fill at all... It's almost a chore...
But not this one. The Monster
fills not only the pressure tank, but the reservoir quickly and easily.
(Although at weaker hoses, it might not be as fast, nor will it fill the
reservoir 100% of the time, but it still fills considerably faster than
the other Monsters.)
Another thing, when placing
the Monster into the QFD, be careful that you don't punch the 2way filler
lever into the nozzles. You can't rotate it while filling 360 degrees around,
but you still will have a somewhat free range of motion.
Nuff of this, lets get hardcore...

Performance Overview.
Overall the range of the
shots on this gun aren't the best, but sufficient for a regular paced water
battle. On the other hand, many of the other items on the gun certainly
make this beast worth while. For example, that 7 second 2.5x shot - awesome!
It's powerful, decent range, and although it's not quite the size of a
5x nozzle, it is fully capable of getting a good drench on. Even the 4x
nozzle has a good output, and shot time. Throw in the fast pumping and
fast SuperCharge, this gun is arguably the best new Super Soaker this year!
Structural Overview.
Well, while it does have
some Monster Series toughness, by holding it you can tell why it's the
cheapest. While it's built well, the track pump has a new 2 Track guide
system, which allows for a shorter track. It has 2 guide slots for the
pump to move through instead of just one. The end result is a thin plastic
beam between the guide slots that is very flimsy and flexible and is screaming
to be broken in a heated matchup. Other than this it feels like a normal
CPS. The Handle is another thing worth mentioning... The Halfmoon design
of the handle, curving up and inward to the gun, is quite awkward to hold
at first. People with shorter fingers might not be able to reach the trigger
well, either way, with the handle design, the area between the Thumb and
Intex finger tends to get squashed with prolonged use... Also, if the seam
on the gun is uneven, it could cause chaffing in the same Finger-Thumb
area...
Changing nozzles is a problem
as well, while they click into place easily, it is also easy for them to
get stuck in an unlocked nozzle position, more so than the Monster X. The
result of an unlocked nozzle is, well, a low ranged blast of whatever it
is set to and more water going out onto the ground from the bottom.
Other than that, it's lightweight,
easy to carry - you might not even need the strap, and smooth to pump.
Basic Overview.
I like this gun, but it
has it's drawbacks. I personally dislike the oddshapped handle most of
all, but I patched that uneven seam up with a few strips of duck tape...
All in all, this is a great gun. While unlocked nozzles in battle are a
more common occurence, the 7 second 2.5x shot makes the gun worth while
alone, and even though some may not like the 2.5x due to small size (even
though it is real powerful), there are larger settings to choose from,
all with good shot time. This gun, with it's ups and downs, ought to prove
a formidable yet annoying weapon on the battle field... It sure is here...
