Super Soaker Reviews section Spring Cleanup.
There, just finished some work on blaster review pages, added pictures (borrowed, I know.. :P) to Max-D pages and updated informaton, including the availability status of other blasters. I also added some new or overlooked links to the links page.

Also, I'd like to thank iSoaker.com for adding a link to the Aqua-Nexus under the "Reccomended Links" section, right on the main page. Whoa, thanx dude!

AQUANEXUS.TK! and other news...?
Well, my regular Domain redirection service, www.cjb.net, went down this morning (still down at the moment), so I took the opportunity to search out new ways to simply get to the Aqua-Nexus.
During my travels, I came across a service called MyDotTK, which hosts other sites like Metroid Fansite NorfairDepths.tk, and fellow Soaker site AquaZone.tk based on an island off the coast of New Zealand called Tokelau, that offers free domain names with their internet country code to anyone who wants them... Why not? it's a good idea... and for the time being, it's the best thing for the Nexus as aproxamately 8 days ago (18th), 3 domain names - AquaNexus.com, AquaNexus.net, and AquaNexus.org were all registered by the same company, a AquaGenics firm in Utah...

(To which extent I am very annoyed... 8 days ago... It was never announced, but AquaNexus.com was once purchased for The Aqua-Nexus in March 2001, but never went online until a redirection service was found in Early 2002, and never fully went online due to lack of funds to re-register the Domain name in March '02.)

Well... at this point, keeping in mind there is now an official company called "AquaNexus", I wish to restate my intentions... This SuperSoaker website has been online since 1999, and in that time, it has almost ALWAYS been known as "The Aqua-Nexus". In that time, Aqua-Nexus has tried to serve as a basis of familiarity and recognizability in the community, being possibly the oldest active Soaker site to not have changed it's name, style, or webmanagement. I have no intentions of relinquishing my site's name. From the sounds of it, this AquaNexus.com hasn't been in operation long, and if someone has legal claim to the name - it is me. But, for now, AquaNexus.tk is mine, and hopefully soon.... I'll be feeling a little better about all this...

ugh.

Finally, those War Stories...
Sorry about the delay, but War Stories have been piling up since July last year, I haven't posted any... well, wait no longer, I've posted 4 stories, by Dragon Sniper, Viper, Calvin and XBlade, the most recent ones. The ones submitted last year will be filed under 2002's story menu -BUT- will also be listed on 2003's menu, so they're out front for everyone to see. Sorry about the delay, If I forgot one, email me to rag me out there.

Mweeheeheehee...
Notice anything different? Check out the Main Menu, more into the area of Soaker Reviews. This is only the first and biggest of the menus to be merged into the main windows. I believe this move with not only make the site look cleaner and run more efficient, but eliminate unnessecary files and loading times. The biggest thing to note of it, the "Archive" blasters menu is therefore abolished.. So Rejoice!
In a way, this new development to the Core of the site marks the transition from Nexus v4.0 to v4.5.

What else is new?
well, I'm waiting for a half decent day to do more reviews for the Nexus. At the current time, there are no reviews for Max-D's - BUT - I have 5 of them and plan to get a Secret Strike sometime soon. I also have a CPS 4100 to review.
I never announced this (I don't think), but back in November I finally recieved my Prize package for winning 2002 SuperSoaker.com's Webmaster's Choice award. I recieved a Monster XL (my 3rd, whoa), Monster X, CPS 4100, CPS SplashZooka 65oz, and a Max-D 6000 and 5000. So, now I'm tripping over blasters in my basement. :P

That's all for now, more later.

*Crawls out of Dirt*
Whoa! Two updates in one month! Not only that, see the new Intro? Yep, I'm back for 2003... so far... no guarantees. ;)

Lately I've been feeling what the Aqua-Nexus really needs is a new set of directives... before, it was in part competition, driven to be popular, and for a while, I didn't know what I wanted...
Last year, when Aqua-Nexus took home the "Best Reviews" award from the Aquatica web awards, it really opened my eyes... In its dying age, there was still something that the Nexus had to offer. Yeah, there's not much for new Soakers in 2003 other than the Max-D Secret Strike and the EES series, but maybe there's something here that people actually like, and are happy about, and as someone pointed out to me a few days ago(Thanx SSP!), it's because they have Heart and Soul. In a way, I do put something into my reviews, War stories, Newswire reports, the off other thing that comes by... and that's my personality, my style of writing. Instead of Specs and hard data, I'm a real person telling it how it is...

But that was just the catalyst... what I really needed to return to was myself back in 1999. When I was here only because I wanted to be and not because I had to, or if I didn't, the whole thing would crash. In 1999, everything was new, or at least, everything old was new again... I just came back from a 7yr absence because I rediscovered something I really loved as a kid... I went to a store and found the rereleased Classic series, and it was instant flashbacks. And when I discovered CPSs, I found that the leagues had changed around a little in Soakerdom, and there was a perfect fit for a Post-High School guy like me. That spring, me and my friends found our way back into Soakers, and not only that, Aqua-Nexus was born. And I loved it because I was free, unbound to any commitments. Much like I am now...

So, I feel that what I should do to get it all back in line now, 4 years after the events of 1999 transpired, in the days that could be called a Dark age of Soakage, is to refocus on what I should be doing, what I love doing, and coincidentally, is what some people look forward to here. Reviews, News, and Good times, even if the Good times are all I have to offer. :)

So, finally I know exactly why I am back here. Not because I have to be, but because I want to be. Not because I'm needed, but because I am loved. You want reviews with heart and soul and that's why Aqua-Nexus won Best Reviews last year? Fine! I was waiting 4 years for somebody to finally tell me that. :)

*opens a tub of dip and a bag of chips* C'mon everybody, it's party time! ;)

Onto the News!
Well, this time it's a bit of a year beginning news report. Every year, Aqua-Nexus has had a New Soaker Newscast, but there really isn't much to report this year. Larami has been phased out and Hasbro completely in charge of Super Soaker R&D and even SuperSoaker.com. Coincidentally (or maybe not) an era of Battery-less Soakers has ended. Hasbro has introduced the EES line, "Electronic Enhanced Soakage", a series of lights and sound XP/Max-D sized blasters. Basically, you pull the trigger, listen to a really loud squirt noise, watch the lit up spiral in a clear dome spin around, and hope nobody heard you. There are 3, sized from pistol to medium rifle, EES Sonic, EES Tempest and EES Turbine. Other than the lights and sound, the Turbine at least is Air Pressure based and looks pretty nifty, perhaps if you take out the batteries it'd be worth using, but it's still one of the stupidest lines I've ever seen released. (remembers the Star Wars Ep1 line in 1999). My thoughts of the EES line I can sum up simply...

"..."
The Max-D's on the other hand have been recolorized, Silvers and Navy blues, each gun has at least 2 different versions. Joining them this year is the Max-D Secret Strike, which comes in Red or Blue, has a normal Nozzle and a trigger as well as a Buzzer style button on top and what has been described as a "Riot Blast" nozzle. I can sum my reaction to this simply as well...
"!!!"
I love Riot blast! but given all this new fancy small gun stuff, the big leagues have changed very little. CPSs still consist of the SplashZooka, 2100, 1-3-5 (worst CPS ever!) and 4100. For the more Mature series of the Monsters, the Monster X and Monster XL now enter their amazing 4th season in production, being around since 2000. My simple response...
"???"
Why are they still here? I admit, I love the Monsters, always have, but why couldn't it be the 98-99 CPSs that would last 4 years? Well, it *is* and off year I guess, I hope there will be more to look forward to in 2004. Hear the Soaker world Hasbro, they cry out for a new kick ass blaster. CPS fits the bill perfectly. :)
Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

*yawn* 4:30am... man... I'd better go for now...

BUT I'LL BE BACK!

*wakes up... again*
Well, it's officially spring again... Grass has finaly thawed and once again we're bathed in the spring aroma of Poo. Weird thoughts aside, it's finally nice to go outside and take a look around at the various things we'll be able to do once the weather really warms up in a month or so (here anyway). Look for good trails for Mountain biking, good hills for Hiking, tennis and basketball courts are finally open... Maybe even try some real outdoor rock climbing... hmm.... I think I forgot something. ;)

On other news... If you take a look down at the Webcounter to the left, you'll see where it says "Since 4/1/1999". Yep, Aqua-Nexus is celebrating, although quietly, the 4th anniversary of operation. It was around this time 4 years ago that I was rushing a pet project out to get it online on a Date that was Pseudo important, be it an internationally recognized day for Fools. That page that would eventually evolve into the Aqua-Nexus was called "The Super Soaker Classics"...

*smacks forehead* D'oh! That's what I forgot, Super Soakers! I bet everybody thinks I'm the fool now! Hah! Fooled you, I knew all along, I'm just being.... really stupid.

Speaking of which...
iSoaker.com changes themes!
iSoaker.com has gone for a more risque styling... As was somewhat announced on WaterWar.Net a few days ago in a somewhat cryptographic post, iSoaker.com has launched a totally new layout, one this reporter has no problem saying "Pushes the Limits with class and downright style"... if you know what I mean. Go check it out, I'm sure you'll like what you see!

As for me... I can't say *much* is in the works here, but not nothing... not on quite the same scale - and it will probably stay that way until Aqua-Nexus can find a new server, possibly by mid-summer. Currently, Nexus takes up about 4.9mb of a 5mb plot on my ISP's webserver. However, with Rogers Hi-Speed becoming available sometime between May-July, Nexus could soon be moving to a new plot... Just remember the AquaNexus.CJB.Net address and you should be fine. :)

Anyway, that's all for now, I'll be seeing you later! Maybe even this month!
