First, I'll discuss the new Logo. While I really like the old Nexus logo, and it's the longest serving edition of it, it needed some change. So I Placed the word "Aqua" over top of it in the Same posiition it was in on the First Aqua-Nexus Logo (May 99 - Nov 99), and added a bit of a Twist. The Nexus SoakerMan Mascot is designed to be cartoony and is meant to indicate the Free Spirit of Soaking. He is there to help re-integrate the Nexus Logo into the Heart of Soaking - after all, that's what it's all about...
Several other updates have been made to improve the viewing conditions of the Nexus, amongst other things...
These Updates/Additions include:
-A real "Tile"
background, to give the Nexus it's own unique watery feel, rather than
plain crosshair grids like on most sites.
-Complete reworking
of directory structure behind the scenes, to reduce confusion and difficulty
of additions and updates.
-War Stories Section
split into Yearly Archives, 1999 Storys and 2000 stories now have their
own index page.
-SuperSoaker Reviews
section spilt into Two Groups, Current Models and a Blaster Archive for
Discontinued Soakers. (the Archive menu will temporarily be the old SS
Review menu until a new one can be designed/installed)
-New Message Board.
A better one from Bravenet.Com has been installed - taking the place of
the old one from InsideTheWeb.com
-Reformat of the
Midi Player Jukebox. It no longer plays files at random, a menu pops up
and allows you to pick which one you want. (In the next few weeks, more
choices will be added)
-Reformat of the
Links Section, Flash Links have been discontiued with Jpeg/Gif images,
even has a Smaller Overall File Size. A Few New Links Added.
Also:
-The Slogan "Take
No Prisoners", which was to be discontinued for this update, has been maintained.
NOTE: About the Message
Board replacement... I would have changed boards anyway, but InsideTheWeb.com,
the company who supplyed the old board, has announced that it is going
out of business, and all InsideTheWeb boards will be taken offline as of
March 5th. Until then, a Link to the Old Board will be left on the Message
Board page. InsideTheWeb has supplied the Nexus with a message board since
June 99, and even though I was leaving them anyway, I am very sad to see
them go.
There are still more updates left to come - while this update was mostly mechanical, the next step is to improve the quality and quantity of Super Soaker Content... That will come in the Spring... When the Grass turns green, and the Rain is no longer freezing or already frozen.
Until then...

And now, the News...
Here's a page we haven't heard from in a while... Mikah's Super Soaker Page has updated for the first time since last July, adding a review for the XP 15, and making a layout change to the Main Navigation Menu...
SuperSoaker.com's release of the new Reservoir has been delayed, not sure why, but the release set for the 20th hasn't happened yet. We'll keep you posted.
That seems to be all for now...

Until then, you can View the Current site as usual.
And now, the News.
ToyFair 2001, the
latesr edition of the yearly convention of Hasbro, where they show off
new and soon to come releases of Toys from all around the Toy Empire, Started
this Weekend in New York City, and is currently taking place as we speak.
There, Larami will officially release the New Lineups of SuperSoakers to
the World, and should be in stores in a matter of weeks.
So why are the new Soakers
currently in some stores? Jerry, Production Manager of SuperSoaker.com,
has something that can clear that up:
"It
may seem that product [New Soakers] should be more available since its
been seen in stores. However, retailers have the opportunity to pre purchase
product during the fall. Which means, they get first shipments directly
out of Hong Kong, before even Larami USA sees anything finished [except
the big big guys]. I have been told product will be readily avaiable within
2 weeks after ToyFair."
So there you have it, the scoop. Expect them to hit most stores where you are by Mid-March. If they're not in stores by then, then they just haven't been put on display yet. Don't worry, those of you in North America will have them by the time warm weather hits.
