Super Soaker Warrior - 1st Battle of the Water Cup

In June of 1993, I had just gotten a Classic 30 and a Classic MDS. One day I was telling my friends from school, Fuzz, Spiker, and Ranagan, about my new toys, when Fuzz piped up and said "Hey, I've got a Super Soaker 50, Spiker's got a Big Kahuna, why don't we all have a water fight?" We all agreed. Fuzz had the idea to make two 2 man teams, and we'd each pick a team name and draw a logo for ourselves, and geared up for the big battle set for June 12th, 1993 at Fuzz's house. Fuzz became the Team Captain, with Spiker as his team-mate - and chose the name "The Water Bombers". Me, as Captain of my team, chose to got with "The Super Soaker Warriors". My Team-mate, Ranagan, didn't have a Super Soaker, so I offered to lend him my 30. And thus, the stage was set for the coming battle that weekend.

At Fuzz's House

June 12th was a bright sunny day. We assembled at around Noontime over at Fuzz's, all of us dropped off by Car, and each of us with our Bikes, so we can - later in the day - bike over to my place where everyone would be picked up, hopefully after a 2nd water battle. Me, as I had been over to Fuzz's a few times before, had some maps of Fuzz's lawn drawn up to go over with Ranagan, and to help verify base positions with Fuzz prior to the battle. Fuzz's base was placed around the front of the house by a tree, me and Ranagan set up an encampment behind the house underneath a row boat siting atop a structure to keep it off the ground. We went over where the Refill stations were and worked out a way that after 10mins of fighting, we'd all take a break and get refills...

And without further delay, we were off... Me and Ranagan quickly took our positions underneath the boat, out of sight of Fuzz and Spiker. We ran out from the base towards the front yard when we were met half way by the other team. I think our first confrontation went alright, after a few minutes we drove them back to the front lawn where we would spend the rest of the battle. Spiker climbed to the top of the Tree/Base in the front lawn and started attacking us from there, Me and Ranagan tried to attack the tree that Spiker was in, but Fuzz came in from behind and basically caught us off guard. The battle continued on like this even after breaks for refills. Ranagan, using the 30, ran out to quickly and ended up dragging the team down. And that's all there was.

At the end of the game, we all teamed up on Spiker and dumped our reservoirs on him... Fuzz went inside to get us each a can of pop, and came out of the house with 2 Pepsis and 2 Coca-Colas, and said "The Winners get the Good ones"... This moment always troubled me over the next year - as the only Pepsi drinker of the 4 of us was Fuzz himself... But I got what he meant. Didn't matter - I didn't really think our first battle went all that great either. We all picked up our bikes and guns afterwards and proceeded to make our way to my house, 3km away. By the time we got there we didn't feel like fighting, so we ended doing everything else but battle...

That was the last time the SS Warriors would challenge the Waterbombers until August 28th, 1994. In 1994, when the Water Cup was conceived for the WSL (Now "C-WSL"), the 1993 battle was considered the 1st battle of the Water Cup, and the Waterbombers were deemed as the Defending champs in 1994.
