How Did the Nexus Get Started?
Back when I first made my return to Super Soakers in Spring 1999, I was in the middle of working on how to build better webpages on a learners project page called "Winky's Voltron Website"(Discontinued, but still online). I Decided to build a Super Soaker page to mark my decision to return, and Built a page talking about the only guns I had expeience with, the Classics...

How it really got going was in Early May 1999 when Friends TKD-Warrior and Flash(A Former Friend), Announced plans to each get a CPS weapon, and worst of all, amidst the pain and suffering I was going through From having all 4 Wisdom teeth removed on April 25th. Sick as a dog, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get a CPS in time to defend myself. I really took it seriously when Flash Said "I'll come up and Soak you before I tell you I got it" (Full of it, eventually, I got sick of him coming over all the time mooching food out of my house, aggrivating my Parents and other friends and breaking my blasters. Eventually I befrended him after he punched me for beating him in a game of NFSIIse).
I didn't originally intend to get a CPS, thinking that if I did have one I'd look crazy, but under the circumstances, I refused to be left highly outgunned. I Saved my sparse income in a plastic thermos bottle until I had the 50$ neccesary to buy my First CPS (1500 - Mr Grinch I) On May 8th.

This early coming put a stand still on those willing to fight me, because the biggest weapon anyone here had before me was an XP150, and resulted in the loss of willing subjects until the only thing that came of the threat, TKD getting a CPS1500 for his birthday Almost 2 Months later(Which also broke and was replaced by a CPS2500), occured. Even then, activity was down, Leaving more time in the early months for an inspired individual to catch up, and build this webpage.

But during the time of the Threat I had the opportuniy to Gather information of Every Super Soaker reviewed on the net, especially the most popular of which, the CPS's (When there was only 5). More importantly, The Page that I had built for The Super Soaker Classics was soon expanded to include information on all main line blasters ever released. I also decided to put up a news page to report updates on other sites as well as my own, and the Ball called "The Aqua-Nexus" got rolling...
Soon, other sections followed, and the Aqua-Nexus, merely 2 Months old, became a Favorite webpage to many of Soaker Fan.

Site Revisions

Site #1 - The Super Soaker Classics - 4/01/1999 to 4/16/1999

Picture
Description
"A site devoted to the First Line of Super Soakers.. The Super Soaker Classics", was the promo line used on the original site that would eventually become the Aqua-Nexus. This site was originally intended to be a temporary "Summer" thing. It was left for dead for a few days before I (SSW) got responses asking about things on the page and when I Joined the MiB Alliance Yahoo Club. It's a good thing I stuck with the Nexus, because otherwise it would be just another eyesore hanging in the Super Soaker Webring...

Site #2 - The C-WSL Super Soaker Website - 5/0?/1999 to 5/24/1999

Picture/Logo
Description

Intended to as an All C-WSL website, the Idea was to create a Second Super Soaker webpage to document the battles of the C-WSL (That task is now property of the C-WSL Fight Club). It ended up becoming a Merger of the new C-WSL site and the Old SS Classics site, and hit the internet on the first week of May 1999. With the C-WSL page as the Main page, the SS Classics as the reviews section, and the first Soaker site online with a Super Soaker news page...

This Generation of the Nexus is better known as the Teething stages of the page - where the Frameset was changed to borderless and the now famous flowing Light Blue/Dark Blue backgrounds were added - Changing it forever from just another page to a Good Super Soaker page.

Site #3 - The AQUA-NeXuS - 5/24/1999 to 11/10/1999

Picture/Logo
Description

This site generation served the entire Summer 1999 season. At the end of May 1999 it was decided that the C-WSL Super Soaker page should have a name that could live up with the likes of the Great pages like (at the time) MiB Alliance(Now "MiB"), Everything Water, Flash Flood, Super Soaker Arsenal, Hydrofusion(Deceased), Aquatechnology(iSoaker.com) and Water Weapons of Mass Destruction

"Nexus" was taken from the name of the "Energy Ribbon" doorway to the Mystical Land of Joy in "Star Trek: Generations". Originally it was to be called "Hydro-Nexus", but too many sites had already made use of the Hydro- prefix. So "Aqua-Nexus" was chosen.

In Summer 1999, the News page, which as renamed "Nexus Newswire" kept track of the events of Soakers online and the C-WSL's current events. However, one thing was clear - not many other sites were updated over the Summer, in fact, only 2 sites online did update frequently at all.. And One of them was the Aqua-Nexus.
While still the Official website of the C-WSL, the Nexus was being leaned toward having easily navigable reviews, and information sections which, needless to say, had nothing to do with the C-WSL - and eventually changed the purpose of the Nexus.

In late September 1999, Aqua-Nexus was asked by the webmaster of the only other frequently active page, Aquatechnology to form a Partnership to create online services for Soaker fans and Soaker pages online. Thus was born "Aquatica: Spirit of the Super Soaker"

At the end of this generation, the Aqua-Nexus showed off a Flash v4 Splash logo, showing off the new technology that would take the Aqua-Nexus into the Next generation of websites.

Site #4 - Aqua-Nexus: The Super Soaker Connection - 11/11/1999 - 2/21/2000

Picture/Logo
Description

This generation shook the online soaker world upon it's arrival on November 11th 1999. Navigation was totally redone in flash, sections we added/redone, and the Frameset was reworked to exhibit a new look and feel to the Aqua-Nexus.

Unfortunately, the Graphical layout wasn't 100% clean, and in some areas (including the splash logo) suffered unclean Graphic compression and not as smoothly flowing graphics, as well as Improper fonts accross the page. But for a one-man effort, still quite impressive. And for as many errors existing in the site, it still boasted a huge improvement over the previous incarnation.

This Generation was the first one to feature the 2000 Series blasters, and the first page online to recive public congradulations from SuperSoaker.com.

Site #5 - Aqua-Nexus: The Super Soaker Connection - 2/22/2000 - 4/17/2000
Picture
Description
The Graphical and Font layouts were worked on for this generation. All text was converted to Browser default fonts, and generic text was converted to a single type (Arial 10 point), sections were cleaned up, Larger menu text was added, fewer items were placed on the main menu for a simpler appearence. Typing errors fixed where neccesary, and overall - cleaned up and repaired from the previous incarnation. As well as be 100% functional with 640x480 resolution. Most notiable was the addition of a completely new Aqua-Nexus logo, built from scratch. A fresh new logo for a fresh new season.

Site #6 - 4/20/2000 - 7/11/2000
Logo

In April, an experiment was conducted to see if the old Nexus (Site #3) frameset style would do a better job at relieveing the cluttered menu bars. This was done partly as a nostalgia movement for a look similar to the old Nexus, but more effectively it cleaned up the Cluttered menubars and gave the text in the Main window a better feel. All this without sacrificing Site #5's goal to be fully functional with 640x480 resolution.

Site #7 - 7/15/2000 - 2/11/2000
A new background design as well as a very deep cleanup behind the scenes, the Nexus was moved to a new web server that didn't feature popup window advertisements.

Site #8 - 2/22/2001 - 3/31/2001

Description

Serious reworking of the sites directory structure, as well as a Real "Tile" Background, sends the page hurtleing into with a new lease on life. The "Take No Prisoners!!" is maintained for 2001 after it was announced it would replaced, due to it being too much of a valuable slogan to throw away.
